New Internet and New Camera

The New Internet is here.

You might say what's so new about it, but it's pretty new.

It now has limits. That's right.. limits... not in speed.. but in bandwidth..
If you are using Comcast Cable Internet, now you can't use more than 250GB.

250GB is still pretty big, but why is this a problem? Well..

Even if you are not downloading anything illegally or use bittorrent to share big sized files, the internet has been changing and requires, generally, more bandwidth per person.

There are more streaming video websites (including many TV/Cable broadcasting company websites who offer videos online) or live video broadcasting websites than an year before. More and more people are also using these websites to interact and share their ideas. In this growing internet, putting an limit is basically changing the internet itself.

The future of internet is not in putting a limit to the bandwidth.
As we all know, we want high quality and high definition in everything. The future of internet is to cater to that need by increasing the speed and unlimited bandwidth.

Comcast should have upgraded their servers and services, not putting limits with un-acceptable reason of "to stop online piracy"

anyone ready to move to DSL?
(oh ye, btw, rumor has that the TimeWarner Cable will soon offer 'limited webpage' plans. meaning if you want to visit any famouse websites like..facebook, youtube...you have to pay more.. sucks eh?)

Nikon just announced and released new DSLR
Nikon D90 will replace Nikon D80
Is it better? well, it does have more functions and more megapixels than D80

Is it really worth it to drop $1000 for new D90?
If you are a photographer who just wants to take nice pictures, NO.
If you are a consumer who just wants to get the newest camera and loves gadgets, sure.

D90 has 2.1 more megapizels
D90 has .5" more LCD space
D90 can shoot 1.5 more shots in one second
D90 has livevew mode (which i rarely find myself using on my D3)
D90 has dust cleaning sensor (which doesn't really work that great)
D90 can record videos (in close to 720p HD quality)
D90 is $275 more expensive (according to price on B&H's website)

hmm i might be missing some other stuff like ISO performance and stuff

Since D90 is a new product, I haven't read/seen a complete review on it.
So, I am just talking based on specification.

D90 IS better camera. of coures it is.. it probably has better ISO performance, it has bigger LCD, has faster burst, dust cleaning sensor and liveview mode! and it can record video!!!!!!!!!!

but I am not sure if that's worth $275

ISO performance.. even if its better.. i rather get better lens to open my aperture all the way
bigger LCD... .5"?? common.. you can live with that
faster burst... if you are into sports photography, you shouldn't be using D90 or D80 in first place
LiveView.. Like I said before, I rarely use it..
Recording Video... if you want videos..get a camcorder.. (btw D90 can record audio in MONO)
dust cleaning sensor... it doesn't really clean

now that D90 is out, you will find bunch of used (or barely used) D80s on eBay or Craigslist for about $500 - $600

If you want to get the camera that will just work and save you money to get yourself a nice lens, go ahead with used D80.
(now that i think about it, with the money saved, you can get yourself a nice 3CCD miniDV camcorder loL)

School has Started

First semester as Photography Major has started, and I am very excited.
Even though I am excited I don't really want to talk about school.

College Group retreat was a success. I had ton of fun serving, taking pictures, and just enjoying the whole thing.

My family (mom and I) are going through a hard time financially. It's really bad. Worse than anytime before.

I would like to ask you guys to pray for my family to get through this tough time (a tough time for everyone) with God's providence and blessing.

I don't really feel like write right now.

Since Yellowstone

Sorry about updating so late.

I wasn't really busy or anything, but lack of excitement in my life led me to update my blog really late.

Well, I guess there were some excitements.

With my uncomfortable UCLA extension schedule, I managed to drive up to ANC High School Summer Retreat with Sarah. It felt very short but I was so blessed to see so many kids' passion for Christ.

I actually have some pictures from retreat, but I am lazy to upload them here. Facebook has all the pictures. :)

Meanwhile, I was working with Jason Chao to get his head shots. But with limited equipments (lights, backdrops), it was very hard to get a shot Jason and I liked. One day, it will be done right with right equipments.

Talking about equipments...
While I got myself a light stand, an umbrella (for bouncing lights, not rains), and a reflector, I still need more lighting equipments.
So, I decided to sell my D200. (if anyone's interested, let me know)

I went to the Griffith Observatory with Minjee. It was my first visit since the renovation has been completed. It was so much better and cleaner. Everything was updated and there were more things to see.

MPC Graduation Banquet

I was invited but I was hesitant to go. I knew some of the kids from last year's Winter Retreat but I wasn't sure if I really deserve to go.
I couldn't do much so I just took pictures for them.

Congratulations to all seniors graduating and moving on to new chapter of life.


In about Two weeks from now, school starts.
I will be now studying Photography.
It is a big and scary step I am taking. But I am happy and excited.
